La Mienne Beauty: Lip Amour REVIEW

La Mienne is an on-demand beauty company that operates and serves clients in the San Francisco area. In addition to being a beauty-on-demand service, La Mienne had also released a line of lip glosses towards the end of last year called the Lip Amour Glosses. To learn about Lip Amour, then read this article.

I was recently sent a package from small beauty business, La Mienne Beauty. Starting two years ago, La Mienne is an on-demand beauty company that operates and serves clients in the San Francisco area. Meaning that if you can’t go to the salon, they will come to YOU. If you need your nails, hair, or makeup done, you can book one of their beauty artists and they’ll come to your home or location.

In addition to being a beauty-on-demand service, La Mienne had also released a line of lip glosses towards the end of last year called the Lip Amour Glosses and they were nice enough to send me the whole set. This range of lip glosses has a very conditioning, long-lasting formula — haven’t had a case of chapped lips since I started using them. Other glosses only keep my lips moist for as long as I wear them. But with Lip Amour, it keeps my lips moisturized long after wearing or taking it off.

Because the Lip Amour Glosses have a long-wearing formula AND are a gloss, they do have cling but aren’t sticky. I know there are people that prefer a formula that has absolutely no tack, but lip glosses need a certain degree of tackiness to stay on your lips and not seep into your mouth.

Despite it being such a small range, there’s a decent amount of variation. Currently, there are only four shades in the whole Lip Amour range, but they come in regular glossy, frost, and shimmer finishes (which I was most interested in). Retailing for $26.00 USD each, they are available on La Mienne’s site through Shopify and Poshmark

Shade #01, Rose Colored Glasses

The first gloss in the range is called Rose Colored Glasses. In the bottle, it’s a rosy pink with a regular glossy finish that gives a pink tint when applied.

Rose Colored Glasses is great for natural beauties that want a little color or when you just need something moisturizing on your lips during the day.

Shade #02, More Champagne Please

Next shade is called More Champagne Please, a deep pink with hints of mauve and a frost finish. When applied, it comes off as a not-so-frosty pink nude, but you can add a second layer to amplify the finish. More Champagne Please is great for those that want a color that’s a step up from Rose Colored Glasses, but still on the conservative side. Based on the color, it’s one of my least favorites, but I love frost/metallic finishes and would totally wear this as a lipstick topper.

Shade #03, Pinkies Up

The third shade is called Pinkies Up, a red-orange with gold glitter. This is my favorite of the four as I love all shades of orange. Pinkies Up is chalk-full of glitter and for the sheer coverage this formula has, you’re getting a decent amount per application. It’s VERY FINE glitter, so it’s not apparent when you’re casually looking at yourself in a mirror. But when you get a light shining down on it, you can really see how much there is. The great thing about it being such fine glitter is that it doesn’t feel gritty on the lips and you won’t crunch on it.

On a regular day, I can comfortably wear this wherever, but because of the glitter, I wouldn’t call it work-appropriate.

Shade #04, The Who's Hue

And the last shade is called The Who’s Hue, a deep red, shimmer shade. When applied, it gives a lip-bitten look that I really like. It’s full of super fine glitter as well, but it’s much more subtle. This shade does contain gold glitter, but also a lot of pink (possibly red) reflect, which doesn’t stand out as starkly against the red pigment of the gloss.
